Have you had a chance to try out the checklist and calendar for Blogger Building Blocks Monthly yet? Because growing your email list isn’t just the result of a one-time process that you set up… It’s all about making the most of every opportunity to put yourself out there and get in front of right people. When it comes to email marketing, being on top of your game is how you get to the top.
What are some ways to reach that top? Here are five of our creative ideas to grow your list quickly and keep it fresh.
1. Make them remember your name.
It’s one thing to capture a subscriber—it’s another thing entirely to have them remember who you are and be excited to receive emails from you.

We kept this first tip in mind when we were creating the Ultimate Blogging Binder for you.
One way to accomplish this kind of recognition is to come from a place of “helping.” If you’re obviously just trying to sell something, people will most likely turn away.
Instead, sincerely put yourself in your potential subscriber’s shoes and care about how to make life instantly better for them. You’ll attract subscribers that won’t just sign up to get your incentive—they’ll also remember your name.
2. Add your sign-up URL to your digital signature.
You can pretty much do this anywhere your digital signature is automatically included, such as on forums and membership sites. Also include it on your blog’s “Start Here” or About page and in your social media bios.
Don’t forget to include a sign-up link in every post, too. This way, your new readers can subscribe and share easily. End all your posts with a simple call-to-action, even if it’s a bare bones “Sign up here to receive weekly updates.”
3. Pay attention to “voice.”
Use your authentic voice even in your sign-up form. Make sure you’re keeping the same voice that you’ve been using on your blog.
If you’re a fashion blogger and have been using an informal tone throughout your blog, keep that tone in your sign-up form. You don’t want to be personal and informal throughout your blog and then suddenly become stiff on your sign-up form.
4. Be visual!
A picture speaks a thousand words!
We are visual beings. Being an internet denizen, you know that posts with accompanying graphics receive more clicks. Use smart design (think in terms of color, space, and contrast) and graphics in both your sign-up web contact form and your landing/squeeze page. Doing so will make it memorable.
5. Don’t wait for your product to be completed before starting your list.
Many people wait until they finish a product before setting up a list, but it’s actually better to start attracting and signing up subscribers as soon as you can, with or without the product.
If you don’t have a (completed) incentive yet, consider these two methods:
- Offer a highly-relevant but simple incentive such as a tip sheet or template.
- Offer something that’s directly connected to your upcoming product. For example, let readers download a sample chapter of your upcoming digital product. Then they can sign up to be notified when it’s complete or to receive “advance notice” at a special price.
Be sure to use and optimize multiple list growing tactics. You may like one method more than another, but it’s important to diversify—especially in case one method doesn’t work out as well as you’d like. Plus, this way you’ll hit as many different kinds of people in your niche as possible.
